Texas – In a disturbing case out of Texas, two women, identified as 38-year-old Brenda G. and 37-year-old Tania G., are facing serious criminal charges after abusing a 12-year-old girl who came to them seeking refuge from indecent abuse by her uncle. Instead of offering safety, authorities say the women took advantage of the young girl and subjected the child to months of relentless physical and emotional torment.
Brenda and her sister Tania were arrested and charged with felony injury to a child, unlawful restraint, and — in Tania’s case — invasive visual recording. The arrests came after a 911 call on September 28 prompted an investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit. The child, reportedly in critical condition, was taken to Texas Children’s Hospital, where medical professionals confirmed she was suffering from malnutrition and extensive physical trauma.
Sheriff W. Doolittle expressed outrage over the case: “This case is deeply disturbing, but it also highlights the importance of community awareness and the courage it takes to speak up. Together, we can protect the most vulnerable among us and ensure that justice is served.” Court documents reveal that the child had initially been living with an uncle after her mother, who lives in another country, could not care for her. During that time, she was se-ually assaulted by the uncle. In search of safety, she reached out to Brenda — a family friend — who promised to help.
However, instead of rescuing her, Brenda and Tania allegedly turned their home into a prison. From March until late September, the girl endured near-daily abuse. Investigators say the sisters tied her up, beat her with belts, sticks, and electrical cords, indecently assaulted her, and choked her both manually and with belts. They reportedly cut her with scissors, denied her adequate food, and abused her physically and se-ually.
The girl told detectives she was often told to die, forced to eat off the floor, and even photographed without clothes — which led to the additional charge of invasive visual recording against Tania. When the child finally escaped the home on September 28, she was found with infected wounds, bruises, and other injuries across her entire body. She was taken to a hospital, where her condition was deemed consistent with sustained abuse and starvation.
In interviews with law enforcement, both Brenda and Tania denied the abuse, claiming the child was “psychotic” and had inflicted the injuries on herself. However, investigators reportedly recovered cellphone videos and surveillance footage from inside the home that supported the girl’s claims and contradicted the sisters’ version of events. The sheriff’s office noted that the case remains under active investigation, and additional charges may follow as more evidence is reviewed. For now, both women are being held in the county jail on bonds of $200,000 each.
The young girl is now in a safe environment, receiving medical treatment and support. Authorities have not released further details about her current custody arrangement, nor have they commented on whether charges will be filed against the uncle she initially fled. This case serves as a grim reminder of how predators can masquerade as protectors and the importance of speaking out, no matter how difficult or dangerous it may seem.
