Valentine’s Day surprise turns into a big lottery win for Russellville couple

Arkansas mother wins $50,000 scratch off prize after trusting her instincts at a Little Rock gas station

Russellville, Arkansas – A Russellville couple received an unforgettable Valentine’s Day surprise when a simple scratch-off ticket turned into a life-changing prize.

A Gift That Led to a Big Win

David and Gail A. are now celebrating after winning $50,000 on the $50,000 Frenzy scratch-off game. The couple claimed their prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on February 24, after realizing their lucky ticket was worth the game’s top prize.

David, a regular lottery player who buys tickets once or twice a week, decided to surprise his wife with a scratch-off for Valentine’s Day. Since Gail had to work on the holiday, he thought the $50,000 Frenzy ticket would be a fun gift. He purchased it from Tobacco Row, located at 200 E. 4th St. in Russellville, and gave it to Gail after she returned home from work.

When Gail scratched the ticket, she quickly noticed something unusual.

“I saw a 20X symbol, and I thought, ‘Oh!’” she told lottery officials.

She then uncovered another 20X symbol and a $10,000 instant win symbol. Stunned, she handed the ticket to David and told him, “You’d better look at this.”

David inspected the ticket and realized Gail had won $50,000. But the couple still had doubts.

“Is this a trick ticket?” Gail asked her husband, unsure if it was real.

David reassured her, and the couple decided to confirm their win at a local retailer. They scanned the ticket, and the store clerk informed them they had indeed won the game’s top prize.

A Valentine’s Day to Remember

Excited about their win, David and Gail shared the news with other customers in the store, who cheered for them.

“It definitely was a memorable Valentine’s Day,” the couple said.

After claiming their prize in Little Rock, the couple shared their excitement with a few family members. They plan to save their winnings for the future.

For other hopeful players, the $50,000 Frenzy game still has 69 top prizes of $50,000 remaining.
