Weeklong lane closures scheduled for I-30 in Little Rock and North Little Rock during the week of September 9

Little Rock, Arkansas – The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced multiple lane closures on Interstate 30 (I-30) in Little Rock and North Little Rock during the week of Monday, September 9. The closures are part of ongoing construction work aimed at improving the interstate and adjacent roadways. Motorists are urged to exercise caution and pay attention to signage and construction barrels directing traffic through these work zones.

Daytime and Overnight Closures Scheduled

Daytime lane closures will occur from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., impacting several roads and intersections. Single-lane closures will be implemented on the I-30 frontage road southbound between 6th and 10th streets in Little Rock. In addition, 3rd Street will see single-lane closures between Sherman and Mahlon Martin streets. Other affected areas include Cypress Street southbound between 5th and Broadway streets in North Little Rock, as well as Riverfront Drive and Broadway Street between Olive and Pine streets. Locust Street northbound between Broadway and 5th streets in North Little Rock will also experience single-lane closures.

Overnight lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., with potential double-lane closures limited to between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. These closures will affect I-30 between Roosevelt Road in Little Rock and Interstate 40 (I-40) in North Little Rock. Specific areas include single and double-lane closures and traffic shifts on I-30/I-40 lanes and ramps at the north terminal in North Little Rock.

Ramp and Road Closures to Affect Traffic Flow

Full closures are planned for the I-630 eastbound ramp (Exit 140) to I-30 eastbound and the I-630 eastbound ramp to the I-30 northbound frontage road in Little Rock. These ramp closures will not occur simultaneously, and detours are in place to guide drivers around the construction zones. Maps detailing detour routes (NR 24-275-A and NR 24-275-B) are available to assist drivers.

Additional closures include the I-30 frontage road northbound between the I-30 off-ramp (Exit 140) and 6th Street in Little Rock, and the I-30 frontage road southbound on-ramp to I-30 westbound near the interstate. Detours will be signed to help navigate these closures.

Safety Measures and Guidance for Motorists

Drivers are advised to remain vigilant, reduce speeds, and follow all posted signs when traveling through construction areas. The ongoing work is necessary to enhance roadway conditions, and while it may cause temporary inconveniences, it aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the long term.

For more information and updates on lane closures, drivers are encouraged to check for the latest announcements from the Arkansas Department of Transportation.
