1-year-old boy died after his father put both hands around his neck out of frustration and strangled him until the boy started foaming at the mouth; father arrested

Virginia – In a heartbreaking incident in Virginia, a 24-year-old father, identified as N. Edmonds, is accused of murdering his 1-year-old son in a moment of uncontrollable rage. Edmonds, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder after he strangled the toddler because the child was not listening.

The disturbing events unfolded on September 18, when police responded to a report of a 1-year-old boy in cardiac arrest at a home after the child’s mother discovered her son unresponsive in his bed upon returning from work. First responders swiftly transported the child to a hospital. Despite the medical team’s efforts, doctors pronounced the boy dead upon arrival.

According to reports, the child’s mother had left for work earlier in the day, leaving Edmonds in charge of their son. Upon her return, she found her son laying in the bed unresponsive, with Edmonds nowhere on the premises. Using a phone locator, Edmonds was tracked and arrested by local authorities.

After being taken into custody, Edmonds reportedly waived his Miranda rights and confessed to the killing during police interrogation. The arrest affidavit detailed that Edmonds admitted to using both hands to choke his son until the boy started foaming at the mouth. Edmonds told the police he committed the act out of frustration because the boy was not adhering to his commands.

The criminal complaint, signed by Detective T.A. Smith, provides further details: “Edmonds was detained and brought in for an interview. Edmonds was read his Miranda Rights and confessed to choking his one-year-old, using both of his hands for minutes because the child was not listening and he couldn’t take it anymore.”

This chilling confession has shocked the community and highlighted a grim pattern of behavior, as Edmonds had been previously arrested on domestic violence-related charges. Currently, Edmonds is being held without bond in jail. His next court hearing is scheduled for December 19, where further details of the case will be revealed.

The family has been left in mourning by this tragic incident, with local authorities and the community grappling with the horrifying nature of the crime. The press release from the police mentioned that due to the sensitive nature of the case, further details would be withheld at the time.

As the investigation progresses, many are left questioning how such a tragedy could occur. Edmonds remains in custody, and the case continues to develop as officials prepare for the upcoming court proceedings.
