Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The ARTx3 Campus invites the community to explore the art of playwriting in a unique workshop series focused on mental health and social issues. The Playwriting Workshop will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays, Sept. 14, 21, and 28, and Oct. 5, at the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater, located at ART WORKS on Main, 627 S. Main St., Pine Bluff.
Led by Taijee, the new theater instructor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, this engaging workshop aims to teach participants how to craft impactful narratives while addressing significant themes like gun violence and the consequences of poor decisions. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of playwriting, including character development, creating compelling dialogue, and thoughtfully incorporating social issues, all while considering the mental well-being of characters.
The workshop is designed to blend creativity with social awareness, offering a transformative experience through theater. The cost is $25 for the entire workshop series, but participants can also choose to attend individual classes for just $5. The workshop is open to individuals aged 12 and older.
