Little Rock, Arkansas – In the aftermath of the March 14–15 storms and tornadoes that tore through Arkansas, President Donald J. Trump has announced plans to issue a Major Disaster Declaration for the state. The declaration comes after a formal request submitted by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who confirmed her direct conversation with the former president.

“Our entire state is grateful for President Trump’s leadership and assistance as we recover from the devastating storms that struck Arkansas earlier this spring,” said Governor Sanders. “I had a productive conversation with the President in which he expressed his support for our state and I offered my full endorsement of his plans to reform FEMA to save money and provide greater direct assistance to disaster victims. I am also thankful for Secretary Kristi Noem who, as a former governor, understands how to support states as they rebuild from natural disasters.”

The declaration will make Individual Assistance available to residents affected by the destructive storms, allowing impacted Arkansans to seek federal support for housing, disaster-related expenses, and rebuilding efforts.

The disaster declaration reflects a continued federal response to natural disasters in the region and is expected to provide vital relief for those still recovering from widespread damage caused by the spring weather events.
