Temporary closure of Highway 178 planned for routine maintenance on Bull Shoals Dam

Bull Shoals, Arkansas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has announced that Highway 178 will be closed across Bull Shoals Dam from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, for routine maintenance work. The closure is dependent on weather conditions and has been coordinated with local emergency management and law enforcement agencies to ensure safety and minimal disruption.

Alternate Routes During Closure

Drivers who need to travel to locations along Highway 178 past the Bull Shoals Dam closure will be required to take a detour. The recommended route involves using Highway 178 and Highway 5 to Highway 126 through Midway and Gassville, continuing on Highway 62 to Highway 412 through Flippin, and then back to Highway 178 through the town of Bull Shoals.

The USACE advises travelers to plan ahead for possible delays and to use caution while navigating detour routes.

For more information, the public can contact the Mountain Home USACE Project Office at (870) 425-2700 or visit www.swl.usace.army.mil. Motorists are also encouraged to check IDriveArkansas.com for the latest traffic conditions and closure updates.
