Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The City of Pine Bluff experienced a 15 percent decline in total reported crime between July 21 and August 24, 2025, compared to the same time period in 2024. The total number of reported crimes decreased from 361 in 2024 to 308 in 2025, signaling progress in law enforcement efforts and community engagement.

The data was shared during the recent Police, Fire, Animal Control, and Code Enforcement (P.F.A.C.) Town Hall meeting, where law enforcement leaders outlined changes in various crime categories.

Homicides were down, falling from two reported cases in 2024 to just one in 2025. Reports of rape also dropped slightly, from four to three, while aggravated assaults saw a significant decline—dropping from 38 incidents last year to 29 this year. Simple assaults followed a similar trend, with 109 reported cases in 2025 compared to 116 the previous year.

Residential and commercial burglaries also declined, with residential cases falling from 24 to 17, and commercial burglaries decreasing from 15 to 12. Thefts saw a reduction as well, with 113 incidents reported in 2025 compared to 126 in 2024. Notably, vehicle thefts experienced a sharp drop from 31 to 18.

However, not all areas saw improvement. Robberies rose slightly, from six in 2024 to seven in 2025. Despite this, there were fewer reports of gun violence. Non-fatal shootings dropped by half—from eight to four—while “shots fired” calls declined from 61 in 2024 to 54 in 2025. There were also no pedestrian fatalities reported during the 2025 timeframe.

Overall, Pine Bluff police responded to 2,703 calls for service between July 21 and August 25, 2025.

“While we are glad that crime is down, we know there is work to do to further reduce it,” said Pine Bluff Police Information Specialist John Worthen. “We are very proud of the men and women who wear our uniform, and they all work each day and night to ensure the safety of this community.”

Police Chief Shirley Warrior emphasized that the department remains committed to transparency and will continue to report crime numbers publicly, “whether numbers are high or low.”

The next round of crime statistics is expected to be presented on Tuesday, September 23.
