Drainage work to temporarily close section of Highway 225 in McGintytown

Drainage work to temporarily close section of Highway 225 in McGintytown

McGintytown, Arkansas – In an effort to improve roadway infrastructure, a portion of Highway 225 in McGintytown will be closed around the clock starting Monday, December 8, as the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) begins drainage structure replacement work.

According to ARDOT, the closure will span from Blackfork Road to Clinton Mountain Road, with the road expected to remain inaccessible through 5 p.m. on Friday, December 12, weather permitting. During this period, only local traffic will be permitted on either side of the closure, but through access will not be available.

Detour Routes in Place

To help motorists navigate the area, a signed detour route will be active during the closure. Drivers heading to the east side of the closure will need to take Highway 225 (E Main Street) west to Highway 65 (N Broadview Street) north, continue on Highway 285 east to Blythe Road, then follow it southeast back to Highway 225.

For those traveling to the west side, the detour will begin on Highway 225 east to Blythe Road northwest, then continue on Highway 285 west to Highway 65 (N Broadview Street) south, and return to Highway 225 (E Main Street).

To keep the public informed and traffic safe, digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and warning signs will be placed in strategic locations along the affected stretch and detour routes.

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow for additional travel time while the construction is underway.

For ongoing updates and more details about this project and others across the state, travelers can visit IDriveArkansas.com or ARDOT.gov.
