Swearing-in ceremony for the new Chief of Police for the Pine Bluff Police Department set for January 2

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – After an extensive nationwide search, the City of Pine Bluff has officially selected Captain Shawn Davis to serve as the next Chief of Police for the Pine Bluff Police Department. His appointment will take effect on January 1, 2026, marking a new chapter for the department and the community it serves.

Over Two Decades of Dedicated Service

Captain Davis brings with him more than 20 years of experience within the Pine Bluff Police Department, having first joined the force in 2002. Over the past two decades, he has served in several leadership and operational roles, including in the Patrol, Detective, Vice and Narcotics, Quality of Life, and most recently, the Special Operations and Traffic Division.

His long-standing commitment to proactive policing, conflict resolution, and modern law enforcement strategies has earned him the trust and respect of colleagues and community members alike. Davis is widely recognized for upholding the highest ethical standards throughout his career.

Mayor Vivian Flowers expressed strong confidence in the appointment, stating,
“Captain Davis has served the City of Pine Bluff with dedication and distinction for over 20 years. We are confident that his experience, leadership and progressive vision will guide our police department into the future, building on past accomplishments, strengthening community trust, and ensuring accountability.”

Public Swearing-In Ceremony Announced

To formally mark this leadership transition, a swearing-in ceremony will be held on January 2, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Masonic Lodge, located at 2906 E. Harding Avenue, Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

The community and members of the media are invited to attend and witness the beginning of this new era in local law enforcement. With Davis at the helm, Pine Bluff officials hope to build upon the department’s foundation while continuing efforts to strengthen relationships and trust between officers and the public.
