Suspect arrested after shooting death of woman in Jefferson County domestic incident

White Hall, Arkansas – A deadly domestic incident in Jefferson County has resulted in the county’s first homicide case of 2026, as investigators continue to gather details following a late-night shooting on Sassafras Trail.

Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at approximately 10:03 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, to a home located at 5120 Sassafras Trail after receiving a report of a domestic situation involving a boyfriend and girlfriend. What began as a disturbance call quickly turned into a tragic scene upon the arrival of law enforcement.

Deputies respond and suspect taken into custody

According to officials, deputies arrived within minutes and encountered a man exiting the residence. He was later identified as 56-year-old Scottie Glover. During their initial interaction, Glover reportedly told deputies that he had shot his girlfriend, Donna Holder, also 56 years old. Authorities said the two had been in a relationship for about fifteen years.

Glover was taken into custody immediately and without resistance. Deputies then entered the residence, where they discovered Holder deceased inside the home.

Officials confirmed that Holder’s body will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory. A full autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death as part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigation continues as officials speak on tragedy

Authorities stated that this case remains active, and additional information will be released when appropriate. Investigators are continuing to review evidence and piece together the events that led up to the shooting.

Glover was booked into the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Adult Detention Center on felony probable cause connected to the shooting death.

Jefferson County Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr., addressed the incident, describing it as a devastating reminder of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate into violence.

“Any loss of life is tragic, but incidents involving domestic violence are especially heartbreaking because they often unfold behind closed doors and leave families forever changed,” said Sheriff Lafayette Woods, Jr. “Our deputies responded quickly, secured the scene, and took the suspect into custody. We ask the public to keep the loved ones of Ms. Holder in their thoughts and prayers as this investigation continues.”

The sheriff’s office also expressed condolences to the family and loved ones of Donna Holder as they deal with the loss.

The case now stands as the first recorded homicide in Jefferson County for the 2026 calendar year, underscoring the serious nature of domestic-related violence and its impact on communities.
