Highway 318 north of Lambrook set for multi day closure as crews prepare major culvert replacement project

Lambrook, Arkansas – Motorists traveling in the Lambrook area should prepare for a temporary highway closure next month as road crews complete an infrastructure improvement project.

Highway 318, located north of Lambrook, is scheduled to close continuously between County Road 607/470 and County Road 612/444 beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 6. The closure is expected to remain in place until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, provided weather conditions allow the work to proceed as planned.

The closure is necessary so construction crews can replace a culvert along the roadway. Culverts play an important role in carrying water beneath roads and helping prevent flooding and erosion. Replacing aging structures is often needed to maintain safe travel conditions and protect nearby roadways from damage.

Detours planned during closure

While the affected section of Highway 318 will be closed to through traffic, local traffic will still be allowed access on both sides of the construction area. Drivers traveling beyond the closure will need to follow designated detour routes.

To reach the north side of the work zone, motorists will travel south on Highway 318 to Highway 20. From there, they will continue east on Highway 20 to Highway 44, then travel east on Highway 44 to Highway 85. Drivers will then head north on Highway 85 to Highway 49, continue west on Highway 49 to Highway 316, and finally travel west on Highway 316 back to Highway 318.

For those attempting to reach the south side of the closure, the detour will follow the opposite direction. Drivers will travel north on Highway 318 to Highway 316, continue east to Highway 49, then east again to Highway 85. From there, traffic will head south to Highway 44, west to Highway 20, and then west on Highway 20 back to Highway 318.

Transportation officials said several traffic control measures will be placed throughout the area to help drivers navigate the closure safely. Digital message boards, construction barrels, barricades, and road signs will be installed in advance and throughout the project to alert motorists and guide them along the detour routes.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, remain alert near the construction zone, and follow all posted signs while the culvert replacement work is underway. If weather causes delays, the schedule could change.
