Arkansas MLK Commission hosts youth summit at Pine Bluff High

High school students lead the charge against violence in Pine Bluff

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The gymnasium at Pine Bluff High School buzzed with excitement and anticipation on Thursday afternoon.

The event, organized by the Arkansas MLK Commission, was not just any regular gathering. This was a nonviolence youth summit, aimed at educating the next generation about the values and principles upheld by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In addition to imparting crucial knowledge about Dr. King’s six principles of nonviolence and raising awareness about the perils of bullying, the event was sprinkled with thrilling giveaways. The commission generously provided laptops, gift cards, and even awarded a $500 check to the high school band.

Moreover, students had the privilege of listening to influential speakers, including none other than Carl Anthony Payne Jr. Famously recognized for his pivotal roles in iconic sitcoms like “Martin,” “The Cosby Show,” and “George Lopez,” Payne’s presence undoubtedly added an extra layer of inspiration to the day’s proceedings.
