ARTx3 Campus brings Tony Award-winning musical “Memphis” to Pine Bluff this week

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – ARTx3 is set to present the electrifying musical “Memphis” at the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, located at 701 S. Main St. in Pine Bluff. Performances will run at 7 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, July 17-19, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 20. This highly anticipated production is sponsored by Simmons Bank.

“Memphis” is a Tony Award-winning musical inspired by true events, set in the underground dance clubs of Memphis, Tennessee, during the 1950s. It tells the compelling story of a fearless white radio DJ, played by Will Parkman, and a gifted Black club singer, portrayed by Pashu’ar Grissom, as they chase their dreams of stardom. Together, they challenge cultural norms, break racial barriers, and help ignite a musical revolution as rock ‘n’ roll begins to reshape America.

With its unforgettable songs, powerful choreography, and an emotionally charged storyline, “Memphis” promises to have audiences dancing in their seats and jumping with excitement from beginning to end.

Creative Team and Ticket Details

The production is directed by Taijee, with musical direction by La’Leata May, choreography by Miles Meckling, and stage management by Jeran Collie. The musical features music by David Bryan, with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and additional lyrics by David Bryan.

Tickets are available for purchase online at artx3.org/all-events/memphis-musical, by calling 870-536-3375, or in person at the Arts & Science Center. Ticket prices are $20 for ARTx3 members and $25 for nonmembers. Students with valid ID can purchase tickets in person for $10.
