Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Authorities in Pine Bluff have arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a 31-year-old man.
Derrick McAfee, who had been reported missing, was found dead in a cart on the north side of 1300 E. 26th Ave. last Thursday, setting off an intense search for the perpetrator.
32-year-old Samuel Mosby was arrested Wednesday afternoon and faces charges of capital murder in connection with McAfee’s death. Mosby’s arrest took place around 3 p.m. at a residence on 104 W. 26th Avenue, not far from where McAfee’s body was discovered, highlighting the close proximity of the suspect to the crime scene.
The arrest was the result of collaborative efforts among Pine Bluff’s criminal detectives, vice and narcotics detectives, and the Arkansas Community Corrections Fugitive Task Force. Their coordinated approach was instrumental in locating and apprehending Mosby swiftly.
Following his arrest, Mosby was booked into the Jefferson County Detention Center. In addition to capital murder, he has been charged with possession of a firearm by a certain person and abuse of a corpse.
