Six people have been federally indicted, and five more face state charges, following a coordinated sweep carried out this morning as part of the Department of Justice’s Operation Take Back America and the FBI’s Operation Summer Heat.
The arrests stem from a lengthy investigation that began in 2023, which focused on methamphetamine and fentanyl distributors operating in and around Mountain Home. The FBI led the investigation, employing undercover buys, surveillance, and multiple drug and firearm seizures. Since the start of the probe, a total of 23 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the trafficking network.

Federal officials described the arrests as a significant step forward in their ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal organizations that fuel addiction and violence. Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative, mobilizes resources through Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). The program is designed to eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, protect communities from violent crime, and coordinate enforcement against illegal immigration tied to these groups.
Alongside this effort, the FBI’s Operation Summer Heat brings additional resources during the summer months when violent crime often spikes. “SUMMER HEAT” deploys a multi-pronged offensive, surging federal, state, and local resources to target violent criminals and fugitives, execute warrants, and dismantle gangs. The initiative aims to restore safety in communities across the nation, with Mountain Home now at the center of one of its latest successes.
Court Proceedings Ahead
Those arrested in the coordinated sweep are expected to be arraigned before United States Magistrate Judge Christy D. Comstock on Tuesday. Officials have not yet released the full list of defendants, but both federal and state prosecutors have confirmed that charges include drug trafficking and weapons offenses tied to the methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution network.
Authorities stressed that the investigation is ongoing and warned that additional arrests may follow as law enforcement continues to dismantle the trafficking group.
