Father returned with a gun in his hands after being barred from giving his 6-year-old daughter a birthday present, only to open fire and fatally shoot his ex in the face before fleeing the scene

Texas – In a disturbing incident in Texas, a birthday celebration for a 6-year-old girl ended in tragedy when the girl’s father, a 27-year-old man identified as J. Foreman, fatally shot his 25-year-old ex-girlfriend, identified as J. Whitlock, in the face. Foreman has been arrested and charged with murder. The couple had two children together and had a history of domestic issues since June 2023.

According to reports, Foreman arrived uninvited at Whitlock’s residence to deliver a birthday present to his daughter. Whitlock had previously told him he was not welcome at the house. The situation escalated when Foreman and Whitlock’s current boyfriend began arguing at the front door. The tragic event unfolded shortly before 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Whitlock’s home. Foreman knocked on the door, insisting on giving his daughter a birthday present. Whitlock’s boyfriend of about a year answered the door and refused to let him in, reminding Foreman that he was not allowed at the residence. An argument ensued, during which Foreman allegedly taunted the boyfriend with threats of fighting and shooting.

Foreman became increasingly aggressive and went back to his vehicle parked in front of the house. Witnesses reported that he continued to shout threats, prompting Whitlock’s boyfriend to retrieve his own firearm from the kitchen, fearing for their safety. As he walked back towards the front door, Foreman had already returned to the residence and opened fire. The boyfriend returned fire, aiming to protect the family. During the chaos, Whitlock shouted her boyfriend’s name and rushed to gather the children near the front door. Unfortunately, she was struck by a bullet and fell to the floor. The boyfriend quickly shut the front door and told the children to go upstairs for safety. He then realized that Whitlock had been shot in the face.

Neighbors alerted the authorities after hearing the gunshots and witnessing the confrontation. One neighbor reported seeing Foreman drive up in the vehicle, scream at the house, and fire at least five shots toward the residence. She recalled him yelling, “I’m not scared of you! I know where you live!” before speeding away. First responders arrived promptly at the scene. Despite their efforts, Whitlock succumbed to her injuries. Police officers began an immediate investigation, collecting eyewitness accounts and reviewing surveillance footage. The video allegedly showed Foreman’s vehicle leaving the scene and returning moments later. Another witness reported seeing Foreman holding a gun while stopped at a nearby stop sign, where he allegedly shouted, “I will reload! Come outside! Let’s finish this!”

In the days following the shooting, authorities worked diligently to locate Foreman. On Monday afternoon, he was arrested and taken into custody. He has been charged with murder and is currently behind bars as of Tuesday morning. Foreman is awaiting his initial court appearance. The investigation revealed a history of domestic disputes between Foreman and Whitlock, including a prior incident in which Foreman allegedly shot at Whitlock’s home. Authorities are considering these past events as they build their case.

As of now, no trial date has been set, and Foreman has not entered a plea. If convicted of murder, he could face a significant prison sentence. The community is mourning the loss of Whitlock, who leaves behind her children. This heartbreaking incident highlights the dangers of domestic violence and the tragic consequences it can have on families. Authorities urge anyone experiencing similar situations to seek help and report threats to law enforcement promptly.
