North Little Rock, Arkansas – On Sunday, December 7, 2025, state and local dignitaries will gather at the Arkansas Inland Maritime Museum (AIMM) in North Little Rock to commemorate a solemn moment in American history — the 84th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. The event, scheduled to begin at 11:58 a.m., aims to honor the lives lost on that fateful day and recognize the enduring legacy of World War II veterans.
Featured speakers for the ceremony include Commander Alan Malone, USN (Ret.), and Captain Randy Malone, USN (Ret.), who will offer reflections and tributes during the memorial gathering. The ceremony serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during one of the most defining moments in United States history.
The AIMM, located at 120 Riverfront Park Drive in North Little Rock, provides a fitting backdrop for the remembrance, as Arkansas holds a unique place in the World War II narrative. It is one of only two places in the country — the other being Honolulu, Hawaii — with naval ships that were present at both the beginning and the end of World War II.
In the event of inclement weather, the commemoration will move to the nearby River House, located at 140 Riverfront Drive, between AIMM and the Downtown Riverside RV Park.
According to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 119,550 World War II veterans are still living today, with approximately 1,144 residing in Arkansas. As the number of living veterans continues to decline, this annual event emphasizes the importance of remembrance, education, and gratitude.
“We hope you will take time to thank a veteran during this historic week, step into their shoes for a day, and educate your family about this pivotal moment in our nation’s history. We hope you can join us to commemorate the 84th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor,” the press release reads.
The event is open to the public and serves as an invitation to Arkansans to reflect, learn, and honor those who served and sacrificed for the nation’s freedom.
