The Little Rock Police Department reported that Maryam Ballard was found shot to death at 2407 S. Cross St. The grim discovery was made just before 8:30 a.m., sending shockwaves through the neighborhood. Following the discovery, Ballard’s body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy, a standard procedure in such investigations.

In their response to this violent act, the Crime Scene Search Unit of the Little Rock Police arrived shortly after detectives to begin a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ballard’s death. Detectives actively canvassed the area and interviewed witnesses in an attempt to piece together the events that led to the shooting.

As of the latest updates, the authorities have not released any information regarding the motive behind the shooting or a description of the suspect. The lack of details suggests that the investigation is complex, and police are still gathering evidence and insights to solve this case.

Compounding the city’s concerns, the day after Ballard’s tragic death, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot at an apartment complex located across the street from the Baptist Health Medical Center. This proximity in both time and location has raised additional alarm in the community.

The Little Rock Police Department is urging anyone with information related to these homicides to come forward and assist in their investigation. Homicide detectives are actively seeking tips and leads, and the public can contact them at (501) 371-4660. The community’s cooperation is vital in bringing justice to the victims and restoring a sense of safety and peace in the area.
