Dedication ceremony planned to honor the service and sacrifice of fallen ARDOT and highway police members

Overnight closures scheduled on Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in Fayetteville for Interstate 49 bridge construction work

Little Rock, Arkansas – A solemn event will take place this fall as the Arkansas Department of Transportation prepares to unveil a permanent memorial in honor of employees who died in the line of duty. The ARDOT Fallen Worker Memorial Dedication will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the department’s Central Office grounds in Little Rock, near the east parking lot at 10324 Interstate 30.

Honoring Those Who Gave Everything

The memorial is intended as a lasting tribute to transportation workers and highway police officers who lost their lives while serving the people of Arkansas. These individuals spent their days maintaining roadways, building new infrastructure, and ensuring safer travel for everyone across the state. The dedication ceremony is open to the public and will be attended by the families of the fallen, current and former employees, and members of the Arkansas Highway Commission.

By creating this space, ARDOT offers the community a place to pause and remember the sacrifices made by those who worked to improve public safety through their roles in transportation. Their efforts helped shape the road system that supports daily life and economic growth in Arkansas.

The memorial also highlights the risks many public employees face on a daily basis. Whether they were repairing highways or managing traffic safety, the men and women remembered here were performing jobs that had real impact—and real danger.

Supported by the presence of coworkers, friends, and community members, the event is not just a ceremony, but a reminder of the value of service and the deep cost it sometimes carries. Attendees are encouraged to show their support and pay tribute to those who never made it home
