ARTx3 Campus to host free screening of FernGully: The Last Rainforest on June 27

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Families and movie lovers will soon have an opportunity to enjoy a classic animated film while learning valuable lessons about environmental protection and teamwork during a special community event at the ARTx3 Campus.

The campus will host a free screening of the animated movie FernGully: The Last Rainforest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 27. The event will take place inside the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater at ART WORKS on Main, located at 627 S. Main Street.

Organizers say the film offers an entertaining experience for children and adults while also delivering important messages about conservation, friendship, and caring for the natural world.

Classic animated adventure brings environmental message

“FernGully: The Last Rainforest” takes viewers into a magical rainforest inhabited by fairies, animals, and nature spirits.

The story centers on Crysta, a curious fairy who encounters a human named Zak after he is accidentally reduced to fairy size while working near the rainforest with a group of loggers. As the two characters explore the forest together, they develop a friendship and learn the value of cooperation and teamwork.

The adventure becomes more urgent when a destructive spirit known as Hexxus threatens the rainforest through pollution and environmental destruction. To save their home, the fairies and animals must join forces and confront the danger together.

Throughout the film, viewers are introduced to themes centered on environmental responsibility, protecting natural resources, and respecting the world around them.

Organizers believe the movie remains relevant because of its positive messages and family-friendly storytelling.

The screening is being offered at no cost to attendees, although registration is required in advance. Guests are encouraged to register not only for the movie but also for the Saturday Family FunDay event that will follow the screening.

The event is sponsored by the Simmons First Foundation, helping make the program available free of charge to the community.

Those seeking additional details about the screening or related activities can contact Stephanie Johnson-Carlton, the STEAM education director, for more information.
