Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced the appointment of Chris Caldwell as the newest Arkansas Game and Fish Commissioner. Caldwell’s seven-year term will extend until 2031, succeeding outgoing Commission Chairman Stan Jones. John David “J.D.” Neeley is set to become the new Commission Chairman.
“Chris is a great friend and trusted advisor. I know how much he loves Arkansas, how much he adores hunting and fishing and the Arkansas way of life, and how hard he will work every single day in this role,” Governor Sanders stated.
Caldwell expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment, saying, “Hunting and fishing have always been a big part of my life, and I’m proud to join the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and help provide the same opportunities I enjoyed to every kid and family in Arkansas. I’m grateful that the Governor has selected me for this role and look forward to working with her and every Commissioner to help make Arkansas the best state in the nation to hunt, fish, live, and raise a family.”
Chris Caldwell’s Background and Career
Chris Caldwell, a native of Saline County now residing in Little Rock, is the head of Caldwell Consulting, a comprehensive lobbying, government relations, and political consulting firm. His experience includes managing the Sarah for Governor campaign and serving as a Special Advisor to the Governor-elect’s transition team. Caldwell also held the position of Federal Co-Chairman of the Delta Regional Authority during the Trump Administration, a role he was unanimously confirmed for by the U.S. Senate. Additionally, Caldwell has served on Senator John Boozman’s official staff and has held senior leadership roles in various campaigns across Arkansas and the country.
Caldwell’s educational background includes a degree from the University of Arkansas. He and his wife, Ashley, have two children, Harley and Amelia.
This appointment is expected to bring Caldwell’s extensive experience and passion for the outdoors to the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, contributing to the state’s renowned hunting and fishing culture.
