Little Rock, Arkansas – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced a two-day farm tour on October 14 and 15, during which she will visit various farms and industries that directly contribute to Arkansas’ agricultural sector. Agriculture is Arkansas’ leading industry, and the Governor plans to hear from farmers and other industry leaders about the challenges they face. On the second day of the tour, she will be joined by U.S. Senator John Boozman, the ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry.
Governor Sanders stressed the importance of agriculture to Arkansas and the nation, saying, “Arkansas’ farmers, ranchers, producers, and foresters are on the front lines of ensuring our country can feed itself, fuel itself, and fight for itself, making it our state’s leading industry. However, rising costs, overregulation, and foreign adversaries are making it difficult. I want to hear directly from the agricultural community about how we can best support this vital industry.”
Senator Boozman echoed the Governor’s commitment to supporting Arkansas agriculture, saying, “As the lead Republican on the Senate Agriculture Committee, I am committed to ensuring the next farm bill is shaped by Arkansas farmers and ranchers so they can continue to deliver a safe and abundant supply of food to the U.S. and beyond.”
Tour Schedule and Locations
The farm tour will start on Monday, October 14, with a visit to the Tyson River Valley Hatchery. Although this event will be closed to the media, the Governor’s subsequent visit to River Valley Tractor in Russellville at 11:15 a.m. will be open for media coverage. Later in the day, Sanders will tour Flying C Ranch in Conway at 1:15 p.m.
On Tuesday, October 15, the Governor will be joined by Senator Boozman for several visits in the Delta. They will visit the Bayou Meto Irrigation Project at 9:00 a.m., followed by a tour of Isbell Farms in England at 12:30 p.m. They will also hold a roundtable discussion with local farmers at Matt Miles’ farm shop later that afternoon.
The tour reflects Governor Sanders’ commitment to understanding the needs of Arkansas’ agricultural sector and finding ways to address the challenges faced by the state’s farmers and producers. By gathering input from those on the front lines of agriculture, the Governor hopes to ensure that Arkansas remains a leader in food production and rural development.
