Interstate ramps in Arkansas to close for safety camera testing through late February

New application cycle opens for transportation research and workforce development grant program

Little Rock, Arkansas – Motorists traveling through Arkansas interstates should be prepared for temporary ramp closures as crews conduct wrong-way camera system testing through Thursday, February 27. The closures will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., weather permitting.

Short-Term Closures to Improve Safety

The testing will require 15 to 30-minute closures at multiple interstate ramps. These closures are necessary to evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of wrong-way detection cameras, which are designed to enhance roadway safety and prevent accidents caused by wrong-way drivers.

While the closures are in place, emergency responders will have full access to the ramps at all times. Motorists should be aware of traffic control measures, including barrels, message boards, and signage, to help navigate around the affected areas.
