Little Rock, Arkansas – Mega Millions announces significant changes for April 2025, with the goal of offering larger jackpots and better odds for players. The draw game, which has already produced six billionaires since its creation in 2002, will introduce a series of enhancements designed to make jackpots grow faster and more frequently while increasing the value of non-jackpot prizes.
One of the most notable changes is the introduction of a new built-in multiplier. This feature will automatically multiply non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four, five, or even ten times, giving players more opportunities to win bigger prizes. Under the new rules, players who match five white balls could win up to $10 million—an upgrade from the current base prize of $1 million for matching five numbers.
“We’re looking forward to the new Mega Millions game changes here in Arkansas,” said Sharon Strong, Executive Director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL). “Between the built-in multiplier and the potential for more frequent, higher jackpots, we’re excited to see how these enhancements benefit our local players.”
In 2024 alone, 404 winners claimed Mega Millions prizes over $500 at the ASL Claim Center, amounting to a total payout of $597,242. Mega Millions ticket sales accounted for 21% of all ASL draw game sales in the 2024 fiscal year.
Strong also expressed enthusiasm about how the upcoming changes will benefit the state’s scholarship programs. “As with any lottery product, we’re also excited to see how next year’s Mega Millions ticket sales translate into scholarship funding for Arkansas students,” she added.
More than 92 cents of every dollar from the Arkansas Lottery’s revenue goes towards prizes, scholarships, retailer commissions, and other operational expenses in the state.
Once the changes take effect, Mega Millions tickets will cost $5, and with the built-in multipliers, any prize won will always exceed the cost of the ticket.
The current Mega Millions jackpot stands at $150 million for the upcoming Friday drawing, with sales cutting off at 9:45 p.m. Tickets are available at licensed Arkansas Scholarship Lottery retailers and online.
