Construction to expand Interstate 30 (I-30) to six lanes in Saline County will necessitate the overnight closure of a key frontage road ramp on Monday, August 12. The closure, which will affect the south frontage road ramp leading to W. South Street eastbound, is scheduled to take place from 9 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday, August 13.
Detour and Traffic Adjustments
Weather permitting, crews will close the connection road from the eastbound frontage road to W. South Street eastbound to install necessary drainage infrastructure. During this time, traffic will be redirected along a signed detour route. Drivers traveling east on the frontage road will need to proceed under the W. South Street Bridge, take the loop ramp onto the bridge, enter the roundabout, and then continue onto W. South Street eastbound.
Traffic in the area will be managed with construction barrels, barricades, and signage. The public is urged to exercise caution while traveling through the work zone, as slower traffic speeds are expected. Nearby areas may also experience increased noise levels during the overnight hours due to construction activities.
About the I-30 Widening Project
This project is part of the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s (ARDOT) Connecting Arkansas Program, specifically identified as Job CA0601. The project aims to widen a 5.5-mile stretch of I-30 to three lanes in each direction, extending from the interchange with U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 111) to Sevier Street in Benton (Exit 116). Additionally, the project includes significant improvements at the Highway 67 interchange (Exit 114).
With a budget of $187.3 million, this initiative is a crucial component of efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and traffic flow in the region. More information about the project and its progress can be found at ConnectingArkansasProgram.com.
Motorists are advised to stay informed about potential disruptions and to plan their routes accordingly to avoid delays.
