Pine Bluff police investigate fatal Christmas Eve shooting

Pine Bluff police seek public help to find man wanted for 1st Degree Battery

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the early hours of Christmas Eve. This tragic event resulted in the death of one individual and has left the local community seeking answers.

In the predawn hours, around 2 a.m., officers responded to a call at the 1300 block of South Blake Street regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, the police discovered a blood trail and shell casings at the scene, but the victim was nowhere to be found.

The situation took a grim turn at approximately 2:23 a.m., when 41-year-old William Earl Burnett was located at a local hospital. He had sustained a single gunshot wound and was found by an off-duty officer. Despite receiving medical attention, Burnett tragically succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the hospital.

As of now, no suspects have been identified in connection with the shooting. The Pine Bluff Police Department is actively seeking information from the public to aid their investigation.
