North Little Rock, Arkansas – On Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., North Little Rock Police Officers will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event will take place in the South parking lot of McCain Mall, located at 3929 McCain Blvd. During this time, officers will be accepting unused, expired, or unwanted prescription medications, giving the community an opportunity to safely dispose of these drugs.
This event is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at combating the drug overdose epidemic in the United States. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) organizes the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to reduce the risk of medication misuse and prevent opioid addiction before it begins. “DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health,” the agency emphasizes, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes.
For those unable to attend the event, the North Little Rock Police Department provides a permanent drop box located in the lobby of the department at 1 Justice Center Dr. This drop box is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, ensuring residents can safely dispose of prescription drugs at their convenience.
By participating in this event, the community can help reduce the chances of medication misuse while contributing to a safer and healthier environment.
