Little Rock, Arkansas – Prominent pipe manufacturer Welspun Tubular LLC broke ground this week on a significant expansion of their High Frequency Induction Welded (HFIW) pipe manufacturing facility in Little Rock, Arkansas. Representing a significant $100 million investment, the expansion seeks to improve and extend the line pipe offers of the corporation in the United States.
Originally opened in 2007, the Little Rock site has grown to be a major component of Welspun’s worldwide operations. Recognized as one of the top three manufacturers of large diameter line pipes globally, Welspun Tubular is a division of the multinational behemoth Welspun Corp. The present development is expected to generate 175 new jobs, therefore strengthening the local employment market and offering major economic advantages to the area.
Along with Welspun Tubular CEO Mr. Gerald Mosley, Welspun leaders including Welspun World Chairman Mr. B.K. Goenka and Welspun Corp Managing Director Mr. Vipul Mathur attended the groundbreaking ceremony. Marking it as a milestone in the partnership between Welspun and the Arkansas community, state officials and local leaders also joined the event.
“We are glad to be in Little Rock to announce the expansion of our plant here which we set up back in 2007, and have successfully maintained a relationship with Arkansas region and its people. This capacity expansion will not just benefit our ongoing operations and cater to Welspun’s ethos of customer centricity, but also add to the job market to aid the local population residing here,” Welspun World Chairman Mr. B.K. Goenka said.
“The Port of Little Rock is quickly becoming the center of economic development for our region – and today’s groundbreaking is only going to continue that,” said Governor Sanders. “I applaud the team that landed this announcement and will continue my administration’s work to make Arkansas a low-tax, pro-business state that welcomes companies like Welspun Tubular with open arms.”

“Arkansas is a pro-business state that encourages companies to expand, and Welspun Tubular is a great example of a company that has grown in our state,” said Arkansas Department of Commerce Secretary Hugh McDonald. “Welspun Tubular’s groundbreaking today is another milestone for the company’s success in the Natural State and for Arkansas’ continued economic growth.”
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. also emphasized the city’s diverse and welcoming nature, stating, “This announcement further solidifies the necessity of expanding the Port of Little Rock to continue attracting investment that creates jobs for our residents.”
Welspun’s development fits within a larger plan to broaden its product line and target new market sectors. To increase its reach in construction materials, Welspun recently bought Sintex-BAPL therefore reaffirming its leadership in the worldwide industry.
