Pine Bluff, Arkansas – Arkansas drivers have recently noticed a small but welcome change. According to GasBuddy.com, the average price of gasoline in the state has seen a decrease. Over the past week, prices at the pump have dropped by 3.1 cents, bringing the average to $2.86 per gallon. However, prices are still 19.5 cents higher than they were just a month ago, but when compared to this time last year, Arkansans are paying 12.3 cents less per gallon.
Nationally, the trend is similar, with the average price for a gallon of gasoline falling by 1.9 cents to $3.24.
Despite this momentary relief, experts caution that it may be short-lived. Patrick De Haan, the head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, shared his insights, stating, “It’s likely only a matter of time before we see the rise re-engage and prices start to head higher. But we’ll take any break that we can.” De Haan points out that the recent drop in oil prices to around $76 a barrel and refineries operating at about 80 percent capacity are contributing factors to the current decrease. Yet, he warns, “That’s why it’s just a matter of time before prices collide with rising demand and start to accelerate again.”
